This Place/Displaced

by Stephanie K. Brownell, Kirsten Greenidge, David Valdes, MJ Halberstadt, Manuel Aquiles López Torres, Jaymes Sanchez, and Livian Yeh

This Place/Displaced is a new documentary-esque theatre project giving voice to stories of displacement, gentrification, and housing inequity in Boston. In June 2018, we paired 7 local playwrights with community members from various Boston neighborhoods. The goal: to start a dialogue about space and place that would culminate in the creation of a new theatrical event. Woven together artfully by original compositions from Max Kennedy, This Place/Displaced opens the doors to discussion as our characters invite us into their hearts and homes.

World premiere at Artists’ Theater of Boston, 2018
Remount at Brandeis University, 2019 - sponsored by the Brandeis University minor in Creativity, the Arts, and Social Transformation, with financial support from The Max and Sunny Howard Memorial Foundation
